A laid-back Bay Islands gem on the Mesoamerican Reef, with clear water snorkeling, sandy West Bay, and friendly island villages.

Roatán is the largest of the Bay Islands of Honduras, sitting right on the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, the second largest reef system in the world. Ships dock at either Mahogany Bay or the cruise port at Coxen Hole, both on the south side of the island.
This is a water lover's port, with some of the best snorkeling and diving you will find on a cruise. It also suits families who want a beach day, and anyone who would like to meet the island's monkeys and sloths.
Here are my favorite ways to spend a cruise day in Roatan. Each one opens on Viator, where you can check the times, reviews and price before you book.

Ideal for families, relax on the beach and hang out with local monkeys and sloths on this small-group tour in Roatan. With transfers from the Mahogany Bay Cruise Terminal provided, you'll have plenty of time to experience Roatan's wild nature at the island's fabulous wildlife sanctuaries—and plenty of time to relax in the crystal water.

This is the BEST ship I’ve EVER sailed on! It rarely felt crowded, the food was incredible, the shows were absolutely phenomenal, and there’s something for everyone!
Jim Sr's Ship Pick
This ship never felt crowded - and the Pizza & Burger spot was a total win!
My favorites: spend a beach day on the soft white sand of West Bay; snorkel or dive on the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef; wander the laid-back village of West End; visit Punta Gorda, the island's oldest Garifuna community; take a scenic drive along the island's hilly spine for views of both coasts.
Honduran lempira; US dollars are widely accepted.
West Bay and West End are a taxi ride across the island from the cruise ports, and most visitors use taxis or tours to get around.
